Sickle Cell is a disease that takes normal round blood cells and changes them into what looks like a crescent moon. Thats why they call it Sickle Cell because its the same as a sickle, crescent shaped blades. Normally red blood cells can easily move through bloods vessels. Sickle cells stick together and make it hard to breath, often causing pain in the chest, feet, stomach, hands and back. Sickle cells also affects your bones, muscles, and organs because oxygen isn’t able to travel throughout the body.
